Clinical Photography

The Media Services Department is on the 4^th floor of Hunter Wing and provides a comprehensive clinical photographic service of patients and surgical procedures.

This service includes photographing patients in our clinical studio, on the wards, in outpatient clinics and at surgical operations ( note:- surgical operations with prior notice if possible).

Clinical photographs can be requested by a consultant and his team on completing a clinical photographic request form, contacting our reception desk on ext 2600 or bleep 6203 or 7565.

For all clinical photographs we take, patients give consent for their use in patient’s records and /or medical teaching.

The photographs we take are on digital format and stored on the NHS Trust’s “iBase” database which can be accessed with a password available from the IT help desk on ext. 3456.

If hard copies are required for specific purposes, please phone ext. 3772.

Our service is available from 9am to 5pm Monday to Fridays except for the usual Bank holidays, Christmas through to New Year.

At most times we can provide a quick and fast service, but we do also appreciate the assistance of medical staff in giving us good notice of requests, and sending patients to our clinical studio when at all possible, if it is safe for the patient to do so.

Please note :- we do not have facilities to remove and replace dressings in our clinical studio.

All our photographers are professionally qualified and Nationally registered and can be booked for other medical photography related services,all of which are paid for and stored in our department database :-eg. private patients/medico-legal claims/police documentation cases, which require separate payment and are also stored in the NHS database.
