Community Health SciencesThe division of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is headed by Professor David Strachan. The division’s main aims are to teach, carry out research and contribute to service development. The division is made up of two sections (education and social & behavioural) and one centre (epidemiology). These sections and centre are made up of a number of research groups (for further details please refer to the organisational chart). The division includes both clinical and non-clinical staff from a range of disciplines including: epidemiology, statistics, health informatics, sociology, psychology and general practice. Our research interests are largely related to public health and preventive medicine. The division teaches undergraduate medical students on both the 5 year MBBS and the 4 year MBBS courses, as well as organising student placements for more than 170 General Practices throughout London. The first undergraduate Biomedical Informatics course in the UK has been developed by the division in collaboration with Kingston University and Royal Holloway University of London. We contribute core teaching to several MSc courses and undertake PhD supervision. |
