2002-2007 £1,508,982 over five years from the Wellcome Trust. A national DNA control series for genetic case-control studies based on the British 1958 birth cohort. Co-applicants: Prof Marcus Pembrey & Dr Richard Jones, University of Bristol and Prof Christine Power, Institute of Child Health, University of London.

2001-2007 £5,329,606 over six years from the Medical Research Council. Assessment of biomedical risk factors and disease outcomes in the British 1958 birth cohort. (co-PI with Prof Christine Power, Institute of Child Health , University College London, 2 co-applicants and 9 named scientific collaborators).

2002-2005 £311,930 over three years from the Department of Health. (DH/PPP postdoctoral training fellowship in primary care for Dr Aziz Sheikh).

1999-2002 £258,755 over three years from the Wellcome Trust. Relationships between infection, immunisation and atopy in children. (Research training fellowship for Dr Michael Perkin).

2001-2005 Euro 2,500,000 over four years from the European Union FP5 Programme. ALLERGYFLORA: Impact of intestinal microflora on allergy development. (Collaborative application with Dr Agnes Wold, University of Gothenburg and Dr Paolo Matricardi, Italian Medical Research Council, Rome)
