Section: Social & Behavioural Sciences

The Section of Social and Behavioural Sciences incorporates Sociology, Psychology and Health Services Research.

Research undertaken within the section addresses the effectiveness of health care interventions, inequalities in the use of health services and developments in health and medicine in the context of wider social change. Recently funded research projects include studies of the effectiveness of medication and physical activity as aids for smoking cessation and tobacco withdrawal.

Members of the section also contribute extensively to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within St George's.
