Clinical WorkChest Medicine aims to provide a comprehensive service for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of patients with acute and chronic respiratory disease. Specialist clinics include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), tuberculosis, asthma, interstitial lung disease and sarcoidosis, sleep disorders, pulmonary hypertension and lung oncology. St George’s is a tertiary referral centre for endobronchial intervention, bronchial angiography and embolisation (with radiology) and drug-resistant tuberculosis. Clinical services are provided by a multi-disciplinary team comprising medical and nursing staff, physiotherapists, technicians and administrative staff. There are strong links with local primary care trusts, through respiratory nurse practitioners and a walk in spirometry service. |
