ResearchOur Research
The Division undertakes research in the following main areas - addictions research, and social and community psychiatry - with additional research interests in eating disorders and palliative care. Social and community psychiatry include two research groups: care of people with serious mental illness, and mental health and trauma. Addictions research encompasses the pharmacology of addictions, and health services research and the treatment of addictions. Research within the Division is led by a Research Coordinator and is managed through a Research Executive that works closely with South West London and St George's Mental Health Trust. Research strategy is supported and driven by a Research Resource Unit. The division recently invested £50k in a competitive, peer-reviewed pilot funding scheme. The purpose of this scheme was to enable researchers within the division to explore early-stage research ideas, with a view to applying for larger research grants in the future. Several excellent projects were funded, with the results from each expected early next year, covering the breadth of research interests within the division. |
