Governance and Strategy at SGUL

The Planning & Secretariat Office is responsible for Governance and Strategy at SGUL.  This involves:

  • Taking ownership of, developing and promulgating the institution’s Scheme, Statutes, Ordinances and other articles of government to ensure that St George’s has appropriate and effective mechanisms for consulting on decisions, taking decisions and communicating those decisions.

  • Managing the business of senior St George’s Committees, including Senate and Council, with a view to ensuring that the Committees function effectively and that their members are able to play an appropriate role in the life of St George’s.

  • Managing planning and strategy development within St George’s.This includes ensuring not only that the artefacts of strategy — documents for HEFCE, for instance — exist, but that the processes for strategy formulation and renewal exist and become embedded in St George’s processes of governance.

  • Managing significant projects taking place within the institution, such as the strategic alliance with Kingston and Royal Holloway.

  • Ensuring that strategic developments within FHSS and other collaborative ventures are understood and feature in St George’s planning and strategy development.

Governance and Strategy issues are managed by Susan Trubshaw and Sheila Durkin in the Planning and Secretariat Office.  Please do not hesitate to contact us with your queries.
