Halls of residence

Will I be given a place in the old or new halls of residence?
You will be given a room in the new or old halls depending on when your course starts.

If you are allocated to the old hall of residence you will move automatically into the new halls when the final phase (Phase 2) becomes ready (expected to be December 2007).

You will not have to pay the higher rent for the new halls while you are still in the old halls.

St George’s also has its old halls of residence, with 98 single study bedrooms. These are next door to the new halls of residence, just under a mile from St George’s University.

Each house consists of three floors and on each floor there is a bathroom, toilet and kitchen, shared with 5 other students (or 7 on the top floor)

Each room is fitted with a washbasin, desk, wardrobe and bed. You should bring your own duvet, pillows, bedlinen and towels.

Each house has:

  • a common room with a television
  • payphone
  • a wireless computer network to allow you to access St George’s intranet and your e-mail if you want to bring your own computer
  • a computer room with 24 hour access if you haven’t got your own computer
  • laundry facilities
  • security staffed 24 hours a day.

What are the hall fees?
Being in Tooting, the halls are competitively priced.

You sign an Accommodation Licence for 42 weeks including the Christmas and Easter Vacations and must pay for the whole 42 weeks unless you can find a suitable replacement student to take up your tenancy.

Normally you can only stay in a hall for your first year but it is usually easy to find private housing  for other years and we will give you advice during the year about how to do this.
