BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing/Registered Nurse

Successful completion of this three year programme will result in an honours degree awarded by Kingston University as well as the Registered Nurse qualification. It is an academically challenging course requiring a high level of commitment, motivation and ability. It will equip the student with the academic and clinical knowledge required for skilled and confident nursing practice.

Entry Requirements
UCAS tariff: Usually a minimum of 210 points, to include 180 points from three 6-unit awards (or equivalent). A science or health related subject is preferred. General Studies and Key Skills will not be accepted.

Specified GCSEs: Minumin of five passes taken in one sitting to include English Language, Mathamatics and/or Science at Grade C or above.

BTEC: National Diploma in Health Studies or Science usually including at least five merits and a distinction.

Advanced GNVQ: Minimum distinction grade, Science subjects preferred.

Non traditional entry: Considered on individual merit
Equivalent qualifications are welcomed.

Evidence of academic study within five years prior to commencing the course.

Course Structure

Students on this programme will benefit from a multidisciplinary approach to professional education and will share a common foundation programme with other healthcare undergraduates namely radiography, physiotherapy and medical students.

There will be many opportunities for students to choose special option modules from an extensive multidisciplinary menu. The academic component of the course will be mainly based at St George's Hospital Medical School.

The geographical location of the Faculty offers the student a rich and exciting social and ethnic mix of clinical placements ranging from those in the inner city to those in more rural settings.

Methods of Teaching

The course is modular in nature with some shared learning between student groups across the healthcare sciences including medicine, physiotherapy, radiography and social work.

Methods of Assesment

Assessment will be a combination of academic coursework (which includes essays, reports and presentations), written and practical examinations, clinical assessments and a research dissertation in the final year.

Students are expected to have visited clinical departments to observe the work undertaken by nurses. You will be required to attend an interview, and your successful application will be subject to an Occupational Health Clearance and Police Clearance.
