Welcome

I gained new skills and met a lot of new people

“Widening Participation is about encouraging and supporting those people from groups currently underrepresented in Higher Education, who have the potential to make a positive contribution to the life of St. George's and the NHS workforce.”

Welcome to the Widening Participation Unit (WPU) at St George’s
We're here to give information to prospective students, schools, colleges and other organisations who support students, and for anyone who works in the Widening Participation field.

There are a lot of talented applicants who do not believe that Higher Education is for them.

We don’t want to miss out on any talent. If you have the talent we want you to apply.

We don’t put up barriers because of your ethnicity, disability, family background, income — or any other form of discrimination.

We do recognise that, if you come from a background where you are perhaps the first in your family to apply to University, you may need some extra help.

That's what the Widening Participation Unit is here to do — to make that process easier for you, and to make sure that everyone gets fair access to courses at St George's.
